The Marist Brothers Old Boys Rugby Football Club (Auckland) Inc., founded in 1908 is an important member of the Auckland Rugby Football Union.
The club had been based at Liston Park from 1966 to 2010, which was a dedicated two-field rugby ground with associated clubrooms that is owned and operated by the club. In 2010, Marist amalgamated with the Tamaki Rugby Football Club and shifted to the "Mount Wellington War Memorial Reserve" in Auckland's Point England.
This Marist Club has always been at the forefront of Auckland Rugby - indeed New Zealand Rugby as well World Rugby for that matter having members who have been outstanding contributors on and off the playing surface for the great game of Rugby.
Significantly Marist's most notably contribution has been largely through the outstanding efforts of its playing members, many of whom have progressed through to the club from local colleges. Twenty Nine [29] male players have gone on to represent their country, with the Club proudly able to boast that it has had at least one Club Member playing for the "All Blacks" in each of the last 27 years... few clubs anywhere in the World would be able to claim that they have had a current National Representive in their club for that time.
In the current era, Marist can lay claim to having "World Cup Champion" players who were playing in the Club when they were part of the "All Blacks" winning the "William Webb Ellis Trophy" with these players being Zinzan BROOKE [1987], Bernie McCAHILL [1987], Terry WRIGHT [1987], John KIRWAN [1987], and Isaia TOEAVA [2011].
