Welcome to Westlake Sport
Westlake Boys High School has built up a proud tradition in all boys sports competed for both regionally and nationally.
National titles have been won in numerous sports including Basketball, Badminton, Cross Country running, Football, Hockey, Rowing, Squash, Sailing and Water polo.
At the regional level Westlake has been the dominant school in Auckland Secondary Schools Cricket, Basketball and Hockey in the last three years. In addition there have been a number of individuals in recent times that have represented N.Z. at age group levels in the following sports.
These include:
Fraser Wickes (Athletics), Robert Loe (Basketball), Tai Webster (Basketball), Craig Cachopa (Cricket), Henry Tam (Badminton), Joseph Bartholomew (Hockey), Chris Smith (Rugby), Taylor Gunman, (Cycling), Tommy Smith (Football) Chris Steele (Sailing) Adrian Franklin (Water polo) Dan Davies (Tennis) and Jordan Stanley (Rowing), Thomas Hartles (Volleyball).
We are also extremely proud of our Old Boys who have gained full representative honours for New Zealand:
Tom Ashley (Board Sailing), Dean Barker, Chris Dickson (Sailing), Mike Stanley, Barry Mabbott (Rowing), Frano Botica, Luke McAlister (Rugby), Glenn Snyders, Cameron Gibson (Swimming), Robert Ironside , Ron and Brian Armstrong (Football), Justin Vaughan, Willie Watson (Cricket), Josh England (Cycling) Jarrod Kenny, Kirk Penny (Basketball) , Robert Loe (Basketball), James Coughlan (Hockey) to name but a few.
At the same time participation at all levels across all sports at Westlake Boys High School has continued to increase.
This plan is to ensure the Elite teams continue to perform at the highest level and all students continue to be given the opportunity to play sport while a student at Westlake Boys High School.

Westlake Boys High School will be regarded as the number one boy’s school in N.Z at both the Elite and Participatory level.

Westlake Boys High School is committed to the promotion of traditional team sports at both the Elite and Participatory level where all students will be provided with the opportunity to participate and excel.

• We are determined to allow our young sports leader’s opportunities to involve themselves in coaching and leadership within our sports programme. We believe that support through the supporters club is important for school spirit
• Quality teaching staff will serve as role models at all levels of our sport programme
• We celebrate and recognise success in sport at weekly assemblies both full school and within year groups
• We celebrate Elite sport performance annually at our school Sports Awards Dinner
• Students who leave Westlake Boys High School having participated in our sports programme will make a positive contribution to N.Z. society
