YOUTH GRADE UNDER 18
This is a secondary school age grade where most players are in year 10, 11 or 12 at high school and it comes with a full under 18 age restriction. This grade is often a bridge year between Under 15 and First Grade. The grade includes teams from both clubs and schools. Harewood has 1 boys team and 1 girls team in this grade.
This grade plays on: Saturday nights at Porritt or Nunweek turf (boys). Friday nights at Porritt or Nunweek turf (girls).
This grade trains at: Time TBA - Thursdays at Nunweek turf. This grade costs: $115.00 annual subscription plus $190.00 turf fees.
YOUTH GRADE UNDER 15 GRADE
This grade is designed exclusively for year 9 and 10 secondary school players. Players will move on from this grade after 1, 2 or 3 seasons depending on ability. The grade includes teams from both clubs and schools and usually includes 2 full rounds. Harewood has 1 boys team and 1 girls team in this grade.
This grade plays on: Friday nights at Porritt or Nunweek turf. This grade trains at: Time TBA - Thursdays at Nunweek turf.
This grade costs: $115.00 annual subscription plus $190.00 turf fees.
11-A-SIDE PREMIER GRADE
This is the premier junior grade in which the standard of hockey is expected to be the highest possible for primary/intermediate school children. Ideally players in this grade should be playing at a skill level which would render them suitable for consideration for representative teams. The Clubs teams in this grade are selected via an extensive trial process at the beginning of the season generally from players who have played Super 8, 11-a-side Grass Grade or Turf Grade for the Club in the preceding year. Games are 2x25 minute halves with a 2 minute half time break. Harewood has in recent years had 2 boys teams and 2 girls teams in this grade.
This grade plays on: Saturday mornings at Porritt Park turf. This grade trains at: Burnside High or Nunweek Park .
This grade costs: $145.00 annual subscription (includes turf fees)
11-A-SIDE PREMIER 3 GRADE
Generally for children in years 7-8 at school. This grade is intended to cater for players who do not qualify by playing ability for 11-a-side Turf Grade which is the premier junior grade and have had a couple of seasons in the 8-a-side grades. It also provides an opportunity for year 8 players to gain experience playing an 11-a-side game on a full sized field before moving on to high school where they will likely play in the Youth Grade or for younger players who wish to develop experience playing the 11-a-side game with a view to moving up to the 11-a-side Turf Grade in the following season. Games are 2x25 minute halves with 2 minute half time break.
This grade plays on: Saturday mornings at Porritt or Nunweek Parks (grass or turf ). This grade trains at: Burnside High or on the Nunweek Grass Fields .In 2010 this grade may have all turg based games depending on the completion of the St Bedes Turf in March 2010 .
This grade costs: $135.00 annual subscription (includes turf fees).
SUPER 8's GRADE
Generally for children in years 6-8 at school. This grade is suitable for more experienced junior players who are demonstrating a good appreciation of the game of hockey. The grade is generally not suitable for first year players. Games are 2x20 minute halves with 2-minute half time break.
This grade plays on: Saturday mornings at Nunweek Park (boys) or St Margaret's
College (girls).
This grade trains at: Burnside High School Turf. Time and day differs for each team. This grade costs: $115.00 annual subscription (includes turf fees).
INTERMEDIATE 8's GRADE
Generally for children in years 5-7 at school. This grade is suitable for first season players but it is desirable that players in this grade have at least one seasons play in a lower grade. Games are 2x18 minute halves with 2-minute half time .
This grade plays on: Saturday mornings at Burnside HS (boys) or Christchurch BHS (girls).
This grade trains at: Burnside High School Turf . Time and day differs for each team. This grade costs: $115.00 annual subscription (includes turf fees).
JUNIOR 8's GRADE
Generally for children in years 3-5 at school. This grade is suitable for first year players who have had at least one year in the minis programme. Games are 2x18 minute halves with 2-minute half time break. Games will be played at Medbury School for the boys & Christchurch GHS or Sydenham for the girls.
This grade plays on: Saturday mornings at Medbury PS (boys), Christchurch
GHS or Sydenham Turf (girls).
This grade trains at: Burnside High School Turf . Time and day differs for each team. This grade costs: $115.00 annual subscription.
MINIS
As well as entering teams in all of the above grades the Club runs a coaching programme during the season
for young children who wish to develop the skills required to play hockey. This is held at Nunweek Park on Saturday
Mornings between 9-10 am and is suitable for Children from 4-9 yrs old .It is the Clubs view that children should have
a minimum of 1 if not 2 years in this programme before graduating to the Junior 8 grade.
The annual subscription for this grade is $45

depending on age , experience and skill levels .
UNIFORMS & PLAYING GEAR
Minis
There is no set uniform for the minis however the children will require a hockey stick ,shin pads and a mouth guard .Just Hockey in St Asaph St sell a Starter Kit which includes all of these items for a very reasonable price.
Running shoes or Cross trainers are the most suitable shoes to wear .
8 a side teams
All Junior players are expected to wear the Harewood Club uniform when playing in Club Teams
The uniform can be purchased from Just Hockey in St Asaph St and comprises red shorts for boys or red skirt for
girls , red socks and blue Harewood Club polo shirt .
Players will require a Hockey Stick ,Shin Pads and a Mouthguard . Cross Trainers or Turf Shoes are the most suitable footwear for playing Hockey .
Premier Grade teams
Playing shirts are provided for players in these teams however they are required to provide their own shorts ,skirts
and socks which can be purchased from Just Hockey in St Asaph St . The shorts and skirts are red white and blue & the socks are red. Players will require a Hockey Stick ,Shin Pads and a Mouthguard .Cross Trainers or Turf Shoes are the most suitable footwear for playing Hockey .
