At the start of the season a team captain must be appointed to each team.
Captain’s responsibilities
- Develop their knowledge of the sport
- Act as a link between the players and the coach
- Create an environment where there is an opportunity to play, participate and enjoy the game
- Delegate responsibility – provide others with the confidence to make decisions – assist to develop team spirit – praise team mates for good play – be easily approached by all team members
- Assist team mates to stick to their values/responsibilities
- Promote Fairplay – Treat all team mates and opposition with respect – Developing team values and responsibility
- Take pre practice/game warm ups where appropriate and post practice/game warm downs
- Firing up the team
- Making on field decisions
- Three cheers at the end of the game and thanking ref/umpire
- Meeting opposition captain if the host
- Reporting the score , ie handing in the results form to the school sports council.
- Required to write a magazine report at the end of the season and use the teams website for communications and updates
